An open source XMPP client for the ZuneHD
What is CHZT?
chzt is an open source XMPP client for the ZuneHD.
That means you're free to use, share, modify, and distribute the source code. More information on the specific information can be found here.
What is XMPP?
XMPP is a widely used messaging protocol used by many different services.
This includes Google Talk, Jabber, and facebook chat. chzt is able to connect to any service which complies with the XMPP standards. A list of XMPP, as well as more information on XMPP, can be found at the XMPP website.
What is the ZuneHD?
The ZuneHD is a personal media player from Microsoft with capabilities similar to the iPod Touch.
Although there are platforms used for programming the ZuneHD, there is no central marketplace for individual developers. This means fewer people develop for Zune as well as there being less information available on how to develop for Zune. As far as I am aware, I am the only person to have created an XMPP client application for the Zune.
Why the ZuneHD?
I chose to program chzt because I frequently used a ZuneHD and had no reliable way of communicating via XMPP, which I often use.
There were various web clients that would connect to an XMPP server, but these services were too slow and glitchy for what I wanted. Two summers later, I finished and released chzt as a Zune app so more people could have an XMPP client for their Zune.
